NAGAPATTINAM: The tiny village of Puliyur near Sikkal will soon get more infrastructure facilities, including a hospital, said K. Venkatesan, Chairman of Cosmic and Vaasthu Foundation, Chennai, and also a native of Puliyur, who is carrying out several development works in the village.

Presiding over the inauguration of the Sri Panduranga Bhajanai Mutt and also the five-day Bhagavatha Mela devotional bhajan of eminent scholar Bhagavathars, Dr. Venkatesan said that he would take steps for providing necessary facilities in the village.

He pointed out that his main ambition was to construct a hospital in Puliyur and also to perform Sahasra Chandi Homam, Atirudra Mahaya Yagna and Maha Sudarsana Homam for general prosperity of the people.

Dr. Venkatesan, who is also the chairman of Shriguru Chandrikananda Samithi, donated Rs.10 lakh to Vyagrapuri Kshetra Kainkarya Samithi as corpus fund and handed over a cheque for the same amount to S. Balasubramanian, Chairman of City Union Bank, Kumbakonam. The interest accrued from the corpus fund would be utilised for the archakas and other poojas of Siva and Ayyanar temples.

Sri Guru Kodhandarama Swamigal, Peetathipathi of Sathguru Mutt, Marudanallur, who inaugurated the Panduranga Mutt and Bhagavatha Mela, said that devotional path would alone lead to salvation and general prosperity of the people.

Mr. Balasubramanian, praised the social service of Dr. Venkatesan and his efforts to start a hospital in the village. He said that divine way of life would lead to prosperity.

R. Srinivasan, Regional General Manager, The Hindu, Tiruchi, commended Dr. Venkatesan for initiating efforts for renovating many temples and providing infrastructure facilities to panchayat schools in and around Puliyur.

The seven-decade-old Panduranga Bhajanai Mutt was reconstructed with concrete superstructure with all amenities, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Venkatesan.

V. Kandavelu, a builder and landlord of Sikkal, had offered to donate the required land for the construction of the hospital. Immediately after the function, the five-day Bhagavatha Mela bhajans began with the performance of Udayalur brothers Kalyanaraman Bhagavathar and Balarama Bhagavathar and party.

Earlier, the Mahakumbabishekam of Sri Siddhi Vinayaka temple performed by Sri Dinakara Sarma and Sri Guru Kodhandarama Swamigal performed Lord Panduranga prathishta in the Mutt.
